  Voorbaat cemetery, Ladismith (CEM-520), is more than half Stassen and repeats the name FRANS JOHANNES NICOLAAS STASSEN at 1852-1939, 1904-1984 and 1935-2000. The private tree holds one Oosthuizen-Stassen marriage: Frans Johannes Nicolaas Stassen, b. about 1789, and Petronella Hermina Jacoba Hendrika Oosthuizen, 1793-1873, about 1814. Do the Voorbaat Stassens come down from that couple?

  Jacobus OosthuizenL (PER-000230) and Dina Carolina BritzH raised their family at Tulbagh from 1749 into the 1770s-80s, including Ockert (PER-000118, b.1755), the root ancestor's own father. A different, independently surveyed farm called Vrolykheid (No. 61, in the Kom van Tulbagh, erfpacht loan-place of T.G. HugoM, surveyed 1816) sits in exactly that district. Is the Koup's Vrolykheid (PAR-000014, granted 1841 to an unidentified Jacobus Johannes OosthuisenM, 'Andries son') named after this Tulbagh farm, carried as a remembered place-name rather than any documented land connection?

  FamilySearch lists twelve children for Jacobus OosthuizenL b.1722 (LHLG-SXG). This model holds thirteen. Is PER-000659, born 12 November 1755, a real child, another row for one of the twelve, or somebody else's son?

  Wat dit sou uitmaak A 1755 baptism entry, or Ockert's exact birth date. If Ockert turns out to be born within about ten months of 12 November 1755, one of the two rows is wrong.

• Entry 439 - did Ockert's brother Pieter Cornelis marry a Swanepoel? prioriteit 2 · LEAD-0232

  The opgaafrol index (SRC-482) shows entry 439 as an Oosthuizen whose wife is M: SWANEPOEL. The given names read either 'P: Corn:' or 'P: Cornz'. If the first, this is PIETER CORNELIS OOSTHUIZEN (PER-000242, b.1767, d.25 Dec 1836), a son of Jacobus and a BROTHER of the Ockert who died at de Modder Fonteyn. Who is M. Swanepoel?

  Gamthous Bergh (Gamtoosberg Nr. 170, Oudtshoorn) was worked as far as 1765, with Jacobus OosthuizenL (b.1722) the last owner on record. 261 years follow with nothing. Who held it after that, and is it still one farm?

  What would settle it The current title deed traced backwards, each transfer names the one before it, or the Surveyor-General's subdivision diagrams, which are what usually explain a farm going quiet.

• An estate taken on ground we cannot place second order · B6 loose-doc

  DOC-0066 (MOOC8/24.27, 1802-04-27) lists a household's whole movable estate, which means officials went to where that household lived. It says “ter plaatse van Pieter Cornelis Oosthuysen (farm not named)” and no more. No parcel is attached, so the family it describes sits nowhere on the map.

  What would settle it The inventory's own heading usually names the farm and the field-cornetcy; where it does not, the deceased's quitrent or opgaaf entry for that year will. This is the shape that produced the de Bruin/Rondabel find.
