Research notes
[SRC-073 + tree] DIED ON THE FARM MIDDELWATER, 24 Apr 1871, joint will with his wife dated 24 Feb 1871 at Prince Albert (KAB: MOOC 7/1/316.5). Married Magdalena Maria van WykH at Prince Albert 10 Jun 1850. A brother of Frans's direct ancestor, living and dying on the family farm - one more anchor for Middelwater (PAR-000001) between the 1841 grant and the 1884 quitrent. Pottas gives his birth as 4 Jul 1825 but the baptism as 3 Oct 1828; the tree says "about 1828" [TO VERIFY].
29 Jul 2026 FamilySearch L1GF-3FW gives 1828-1871, which settles the 1825-vs-1828 birth question in favour of 1828.
[3 Aug 2026, SRC-200] STOOD WITNESS at his niece's baptism, BWB-273-07, 26 December 1842 - Susara Johanna, daughter of his brother Petrus Martinus.
[6 Aug 2026] display_name CORRECTED from '(b.1825)' to '(b.1828)'. The parenthetical disambiguator contradicted this row's own birth_edtf, which is 1828, so the site printed one year in the name and another in the field beside it. A parenthetical exists to tell two same-named men apart and is worse than useless when it disagrees with the record it is disambiguating. Audit finding prose-15, 5 Aug 2026.
These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
