Afrikaans naming repeats hard, and the Cape Dutch naming pattern reuses a name on purpose, a child who died young has the name given again to a later sibling. These are different people. Never match on a name alone.

Research notes

[SRC-073] Second child. Baptised Graaff-Reinet 1 Dec 1811. Married Jacobus van ZylH at Beaufort West 5 Oct 1830 - two sisters marrying two van Zyls in eighteen months.

29 Jul 2026 FamilySearch LHZQ-KMW gives her death as 1840; the tree only had "before 1859".

[1 Aug 2026, SRC-181 - Beaufort West baptisms 1838] Named in full as a mother - 'Susanna Chatarina Oosthuisen', wife of Jacobus van Zeyl - at the baptism of their daughter ADRIANA CECILIA at Beaufort West on 11 July 1838, and again as a witness at her sister's child's baptism on 19 August. This is the primary record of the marriage this project had until now only by testimony. She named her first daughter for her own mother, Adriana Cecilia VenterM of Middelwater, exactly as the vernoemingspatroon predicts. She died about two years later.

[FS, 1 Aug 2026] LHZQ-KMW, 1811-1840 - which CORROBORATES the 1840 death this model carried without a source. Married Jacobus van ZylH at BEAUFORT WEST on 25 SEPTEMBER 1830. Five children, all already in the model. She was 28 or 29 when she died.

[5 Aug 2026] MERGED PER-000461 into this row. Re-run through merge_person.py after the 5 Aug tombstoning was written by hand and left the parentage row on the tombstone (audit finding domain2-02). DISAGREEMENTS, kept rather than resolved - the FamilySearch id settles these in one click: display_name: kept 'Susanna Catharina OosthuizenL (b.1811)', PER-000461 said 'Susanna Catharina Oosthuijzen'; surname: kept 'Oosthuizen', PER-000461 said 'Oosthuijzen'; tree id: kept '', PER-000461 said ''; familysearch_id: kept 'LHZQ-KMW', PER-000461 said 'G6ZT-JYD'. Retired ids kept for the trail: tree, FamilySearch G6ZT-JYD - a merged FamilySearch id still resolves, so it remains a usable door.

These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
