Behind the pages
The opgaafrollen are the largest single body of transcription here: the Cape census and tax rolls, read household by household. They fill the years before the Koup, which the map and the roads cannot show, because a roll before 1808 names no farm.

- Households identified to a person 6 A transcribed household becomes a person only when somebody decides it is one. The rest are an index, not a record.
- Labels on the 1915 divisional map 215 Each one a farm as the map printed it: the holder, the date of the title and the quitrent reference.
A section with nothing said against it is not finished either. It only means nothing countable is missing from it.
