*** [SRC-622, 3 Sep 2026] SHE IS IN THE PRINCE ALBERT REGISTER AND SHE WAS A TWIN. *** Entry 98, baptised 21 April 1884 with her brother PER-000059 on one line: 'HENDRIK JACOBUS BEATRIX ANNIS, Geb. 19 Oct 1883'. Her row was a thin one-hop pull off the tree in July and this is the first document behind it. Her two names come from two of the three witnesses, BEATRICE HENRIETTE and ANNA MARGARETHA VAN DER WESTHUISEN, her mother's people, and 'Annis' is the register's own form. [TO VERIFY] whether the clerk intended one child of four names rather than twins. Two independent sources give two children born that day and her brother has his own death date and burial, so twins is the reading; the entry is written as one and that is worth stating.

IT DOES, AND THE DESCENT IS ONE STEP. *** Beatrix ANNIS Oosthuizen (PER-000419), born 19 October 1883, is the younger sister of ANNA MARGARETHA OOSTHUIZEN (PER-000176, born 5 October 1879), who married Gert Jan Oosthuizen MarincowitzL in 1918 and was TOKKIE'S MOTHER. Gert ANNIS Oosthuizen Marincowitz was named with his own mother's sister's name. *** AND THE REGISTER SHOWS WHERE IT CAME FROM. *** Entry 98's three witnesses are all van der Westhuizens of the mother's family and they account for all four of the twins' names: Hendrik Jacobus for HENDRIK JACOBUS, Beatrix for BEATRICE HENRIETTE, and Annis for ANNA MARGARETHA VAN DER WESTHUISEN. Behind her stands ANNA MARGARETHA VAN JAARSVELD (PER-000558, b.1839), the twins' maternal grandmother - and 5b's vernoemingspatroon puts the FIRST DAUGHTER in the mother's mother's name, which is exactly what PER-000176 born 1879 is. The pattern and the paper agree without being made to. *** SO THE NAME RUNS: Anna Margaretha van Jaarsveld (1839) - Anna Margaretha OosthuizenM (1879) - Beatrix ANNIS Oosthuizen (1883) - Gert ANNIS Oosthuizen Marincowitz (1919) - and twice again since, twice more in the generations since, both of them living. A WOMAN'S NAME, CARRIED BY MEN FOR A CENTURY, and this 1884 opening is the earliest place this project holds it written in the short form. [TO VERIFY] that 'Annis' is a contraction of Anna and not a name in its own right - Annis is an old form of Agnes and exists independently. The witness list makes Anna far the likelier reading here, and it is a reading. 5b: the pattern generates the hypothesis and cannot confirm it.
