30 Jul 2026 [FS L4MJ-L59] b. 1769; married Aletta Johanna (Susanna) Oosthuizen (PER-000049, FS LW51-CXR) 2 Feb 1794, Cape Town. Eight children per FS matching the 1823 heirs list. Youngest son Jan (geb. 13 Dec 1814, to the day the inventory's date for the minor heir) baptised Graaff-Reinet 9 Apr 1815 (EVT-000175). [Re-applied 30 Jul eve.]

[31 Jul 2026 SRC-168] BAPTISED 16 APRIL 1769, son of HENDRIK DE BRUIJN and ANNA LOOTS, witnesses Willem MeijerM and Elisabeth LootsM. First parentage this model has held for him, and from the register rather than the tree. The congregation is not on the page - which is unfortunate, because that is the fact the record was pulled to establish (LEAD-0030).

[31 Jul 2026] THE CONGREGATION IS TULBAGH. ' Land van Waveren IS Tulbagh - the model already carries it as PLC-000007 / PLC-000018. Same ruled columns, same Kint/Vader/Moeder/Get layout, same hand-numbered entries as the 1769 opening, and page 1 in 1743 reaching page 90 by 1769 is the right rate for a congregation of that size. So JAN DE BRUIN WAS BAPTISED AT TULBAGH on 16 April 1769. That is the fact this record was pulled to establish, and it lands: a de Bruin family baptising at Tulbagh in 1769, a T. de BruinM holding ground on the southern boundary of the Tulbagh farm VROLYKHEID in 1816 (DOC-0117 names him), and this same Jan de BruinH holding Rondabel in the Koup by 1818 and dying on it. Which congregation baptised Jan de Bruijn in 1769? priority 1 · LEAD-0030
The register page (SRC-168) gives the entry in full but not the church. If it is Roodezand/Tulbagh, the de Bruin family is a Tulbagh family and the Vrolykheid name-transfer of LEAD-0010 has a documented carrier. If it is Drakenstein or Swellendam, it does not.

What would settle it The waypoint. This is a thirty-second lookup, not a research task.

What the record is missing

A boundary description for Vrolykheid No. 61 (Tulbagh) names T. de BruinM (erfpacht loan-place), a surveyor stating on the record that this person held the adjoining ground. We do hold De Bruin tenure elsewhere, but none on this boundary and none at this date.

What would settle it The diagram's own date fixes the window. The quitrent or erfpacht register for that year names the holder of the adjoining place, and an estate inventory will name the farm outright.
