Research notes

Widow of Jan de BruinM; joint estate inventoried 1823.

30 Jul 2026 [FS LW51-CXR + TREE] IDENTIFIED: Aletta Johanna (Susanna) Oosthuizen, bap. before 16 Apr 1775 Swellendam, d. 10 Oct 1834; daughter of Johannes OosthuisenM (~1736-aft.1782, FS LVZR-B4P) x Maria Anna CoetzerM (b.1739 Paarl, FS LQ5D-3K2). THE MATCH: the 1823 inventory's heirs list matches her FS children one-for-one, incl. exact birthdates for the two minors (Elsje Petronella geb. 18 Jun 1810; Jan geb. 13 Dec 1814). Married Jan de BruinM 2 Feb 1794 Cape Town [FS]. Daughter Hester Catharina (b.1802) witnessed a baptism Apr 1815 but is absent from the 1823 heirs - died 1815/1823. COUSINSHIP [TREE]: her line runs Johannes (1648) > Johannes (1672) > JAN HENDRIK (1714) > Johannes (1736) > her; the direct line runs through Jan Hendrik's younger brother JACOBUS (bap. 1722, d.1802) - so she and Ockert Almero OosthuizenL (1786, PER-000001) were SECOND COUSINS. Whether her Rondabel is PAR-000009 is LEAD-0014 - evidence leans east/namesake. [Re-applied 30 Jul eve after session-collision loss.]
