Supplied by , with the citation as FamilySearch gives it (accessed 26 August 2022; State Archives, Cape Province). ENTRY 20 VERBATIM: 'Kint: Jan. Vader: Hendrik de Bruijn. Moeder: Anna Loots. Get: Willem Meijer, en Elisabeth Loots.' Dated 16 April 1769 from the right-hand date column. THE CONGREGATION IS NOT ON THE PAGE and is the one thing this record still needs - see LEAD-0030. It decides whether the de Bruin family is a Tulbagh family, which is the whole point of pulling this record. OTHER NAMES ON THE SAME OPENING worth recording, because two of them matter: entry 16, 2 April 1769, 'Kint: Cornelia. Vader: JAN ADRIAAN VENTER. Moeder: Cornelia Smit. Get: Albert van Jaarsvelt, en Hester Venter'; and entry 25, 28 May 1769, a child of Traart(?) van der Walt and ANNA MARTHA VENTER, witness PIETER VENTER. Entry 8 has a MARIA DE BRUIJN as witness. So de Bruijns and Venters are baptising in the same congregation in the same season, twenty-three years before Adriana Cecilia Venter is born and half a century before either family is on Rondabel. The rest of the opening is heavily van der Merwe (eight entries), with du Plessis, du Preez, Viljoen, Joubert/Foubert, Fourie, Cronje, Conradi, de Clercq, Smit, Burger, Steijn, van Rensburg, van Zeijl, van Deventer, Potgieter, Liebenberg, Prinsloo, Erasmus, Jordaan, van der Walt, Opperman, Lubbe, Joosten, de Beer, Coetse, Kruger, van Staade, van den Berg, van den Bank, Bauermeester and Haarhof. | [31 Jul 2026] THE CONGREGATION IS TULBAGH. ' Land van Waveren IS Tulbagh - the model already carries it as PLC-000007 / PLC-000018. Same ruled columns, same Kint/Vader/Moeder/Get layout, same hand-numbered entries as the 1769 opening, and page 1 in 1743 reaching page 90 by 1769 is the right rate for a congregation of that size. So JAN DE BRUIN WAS BAPTISED AT TULBAGH on 16 April 1769.
