Research notes

[31 Jul 2026 inbox] Surveyed March 1913 by K.M. von OppellM (DOC-0133), bounded north by Bloemendal and Venters Kloof and SOUTH-EAST BY MIDDEL WATER. Reserved for Forest purposes on 21 Jan 1915 under the same minute as Witberg, so the two entered the Swartberg reserve together. AREA: its own metric stamp reads 1760.4817 ha and the modern cadastre 2,091.0 - a ratio of 1.19, which is the third appearance of that same ~1.19-1.20 factor (Klipfontein ~1.20, Middelwater's portions 1.25-1.29) against Klein Valie's 1.02 and Windwaai's 0.99. See LEAD-0007.

The research behind this page, kept separate from it: dated working notes, open questions, and what is not yet settled.

What the record is missing

Found by breaks.py reading the model against itself, not written by hand, each one is a shape of missing record, not a fault in the data. The whole set is on the questions page.
