Research notes

Frans's maternal grandmother. Widowed 8 Apr 1968. Bought the Varschefontein Remainder and Welbedacht in 1973 (T30432/1973) under her married name MARINCOWITZ, having married Gert Annis Oosthuizen "Tokkie" Marincowitz (PER-000007). Transferred to a family trustM in 1997. She had remarried before the purchase, which is why the 1973 deed is in the name Marincowitz. She never lived on Varschefontein; the purchase completed a plan she and Frans van der Merwe had held for a long time .

[10 Aug 2026, SRC-374] Melville gives her as Maria MAGDALENA van der Merwe born 23 October 1928; this model holds Maria MAGRITHA born 28 October 1928. A five-day difference and a different second name. Both recorded, neither preferred. LEAD-0155.

[15 Aug 2026] NOEMNAAM RECORDED: Ria. Recorded in the same pass, 15 Aug 2026. Two photographs of her arrived as "... en Ria LNWV-ZHY" and the everyday name had never been written into the model. Maria Magritha on paper, Ria in the house.
