Research notes

[13 Aug 2026, FAMILY + SRC-436] Added because Frans records that Gert Annis "Tokkie" Oosthuizen Marincowitz (PER-000007) held it. The 2023 valuation roll names farm 164 portion 2 TABAKLANDE at 406.4544 ha; and the Surveyor-General polygon it is pinned to measures 407.9 ha, so the rates extent and the surveyed area agree to within half a per cent. No dates for the holding are recorded: family knowledge gives the fact and not the years. LEAD-0187 asks which Bloemendal is meant, because this district has three farms of that name.

The research behind this page, kept separate from it: dated working notes, open questions, and what is not yet settled.
