Research notes

[2 Aug 2026 inbox] The modern successor that absorbed two of the farms in this model. Compiled July 2003 by B.J. Mellon, approved 2003.09.23 (DOC-0166), 2,053.9040 ha, made of (1) the Remainder of Bloemendal A No. 166 and (2) Portion 6 of Vrisch Gewagt No. 163. Its neighbour list is the fullest modern one we hold for this corner: Farm 132, Bosjesmans Poort 128, RE of Klein Sleutelfontein 127, Ptn 4 of Bloemendal Annex 164, PTN 2 (MATJESGOED KLOOF) of Bloemendal Annex 164, Ptn 8 of Bloemendaal 165, Ptn 1 of Bloemendal A 166, Ptn 7 of Vrisch Gewagt 163, Farm 220, RE of Bloemendal Annex 164, and Brant en Spochters Gang 160.

[2 Aug 2026] RENAMED from 'Farm No. 221'. - and the answer was already written down twice in this model and never used. THE DIAGRAM AND THE CADASTRE DISAGREE, and both are right. DOC-0166, the 2003 consolidation diagram, titles it 'The Farm No. 221': a newly consolidated farm gets a number first and the name follows. The cadastre now publishes it as P_FARMNAME 'KRAAI FONTEIN', TAG_VALUE 221, 2,056.6 ha - the same area to a hectare, so it is unambiguously this parcel - and SRC-196 and PAR-000129's own notes both already recorded that Bloemendal A was cancelled in 2004 'vide FARM 221, today's Kraai Fontein 221'. The diagram's title is kept above as the record wrote it; the name is what the ground is called. TRAP, same class as the two Middelwaters and the two Vrolykheids: LAINGSBURG division ALSO has a Kraai Fontein No. 221, of 2,309.8 ha. Ours is the Prince Albert one and is pinned by key (C0610000), not by name.

The research behind this page, kept separate from it: dated working notes, open questions, and what is not yet settled.

What the record is missing

Found by breaks.py reading the model against itself, not written by hand, each one is a shape of missing record, not a fault in the data. The whole set is on the questions page.
