Found while recording SRC-226, which names a GEROLM SAMUEL MARINCOWITZ buying Klein Elandsfontein on Rondabel on 16 May 1934, deed 3875. If these two rows are one man he is a Marincowitz holding ground on one of the five farms, which is worth getting right. Not merged here: ids are permanent and a merge needs a decision, not a guess. [11 Aug 2026, MED-000022] HE MAY BE THE MAN IN THE DOUBLE PORTRAIT with Almero Jacobus Hitge OosthuizenL, whose verso names a "G. S. Marincowitz". He is the only live row here with exactly those initials, and a birth in 1870 fits a sitter in his late twenties in the later 1890s; the other G.S. in the model, PER-000189, would have been about forty-six. Initials and age together, which is not the same as a name match, but it is not proof either. [TO VERIFY]

What would settle it The current title deed traced backwards, each transfer names the one before it, or the Surveyor-General's subdivision diagrams, which are what usually explain a farm going quiet.

A boundary description for Botterkraal (Jansenskraal Nr. 104 Gdlt 2) names F.S. MarincowitzM, a surveyor stating on the record that this person held the adjoining ground. We do hold Marincowitz tenure elsewhere, but none on this boundary and none at this date.

What would settle it The diagram's own date fixes the window. The quitrent or erfpacht register for that year names the holder of the adjoining place, and an estate inventory will name the farm outright.
