Navorsingsnotas
[SRC-073] Married Catharina Adriana van Vuuren at Beaufort West 25 Dec 1838.
[3 Aug 2026, SRC-200] STOOD WITNESS at his niece's baptism, BWB-273-07, 26 December 1842 - Susara Johanna, daughter of his brother Petrus Martinus. He appears twice more in this register as a FATHER, at BWB-232-09 (1840) and BWB-299-10 (1844), both times with Catharina Adriana Janse van Veuren.
[3 Aug 2026, SRC-249] His wife's brother, Cornelis Petrus Janse van VuurenL, named a son GERT ADRIAAN - this man's own name - and that boy is listed as a minor on his father's 1863 death notice. Naming a son for an uncle-by-marriage is what the Cape pattern does with later sons, and it is independent evidence that the Oosthuizen-van Vuuren marriage was a close connection.
[SRC-250] THE MARRIAGE IS NOW DATED: 22 December 1838 at Beaufort, from the Cape Town Archives DRC registers via FamilySearch ark 62ZC-16FH. It had been inferred from the baptism of their first child; it is now a record in its own right, and the eleven months to that birth on 28 November 1839 fit exactly.
These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
