THIS IS THE MARRIAGE THE WHOLE VAN VUUREN CONNECTION RESTS ON, and until now it was inferred from a baptism register rather than dated. It is the join between this project's anchor family and the van Vuurens who hold Wilgemond No. 179. IT ALSO CHECKS OUT ARITHMETICALLY. The couple's first recorded child, Ockert Jacobus, was born 28 November 1839 - eleven months and six days after the wedding - and that birth is independently held twice over, in the Beaufort West baptism register as entry BWB-232-09 and in the private tree to the day. NOTE THE ARK TYPE. This is a 1:1 ark, which is an INDEX ENTRY, not an image, and FamilySearch reports the image as unavailable. So the marriage date is taken from an index of the register rather than from the register page itself, and the original entry should still be sought. The place is worth reading carefully too: the index normalises "Beaufort" to "Beaufort West, Cape Colony", which is very probably right - it is the parish whose baptism register this project holds - but the record itself says only Beaufort.
