Research notes
[SRC-249] Named as the wife in her husband's 1863 death notice, spelled there "Maria Magdalena Elisbeth van der Westhuysen". The Beaufort West baptism register names her as the mother in BWB-232-11 and BWB-261-07, spelled "Elizabetta" and "Elizabeth". She outlived him by seventeen years.
[4 Aug 2026, SRC-253] HER OWN DEATH NOTICE, and it rewrites her. She was born at CANGO, DISTRICT OUDTSHOORN, was sixty-six when she died on 24 June 1880, and is recorded in her own right as an AGRICULTURIST. She did not remain a widow: after Cornelis Petrus died in 1863 she married GABRIEL ANTONIE LE ROUX (PER-001436) and was his widow at her death. Her moveable estate was valued at about 200 pounds. She died AT THE FARM HAGAS, District Prince Albert.
