[24 Aug 2026] THE DEATH DATE IS NOW SOURCED: MOOC8/50.47a (SRC-581) inventories his estate ab intestato at the Weeskamer on 9 April 1789 - 'Pieter Venter d'oude', landbouwer, widow Martha du Plessies, eight children with Jan Louis first-named. The estate: an old wagon, 500 sheep, 75 cattle, three enslaved people (Goliat, David and Rachel, all van Madagascar), and Rd 2,335 in cash - Rd 3,642:24 in all, and as transcribed NO fixed property. The record writes PIETER; this row's Petrus is the same name.

[24 Aug 2026] THE HOUSEHOLD'S PRE-PAARL GROUND APPEARS: his son Jan Adriaan's 1870 sterfkennis (SRC-582) gives 'geboorteplaats district Olifantsrivier', and the boy was baptised at Tulbagh [?1779] (SRC-583) - the church that served that country. So this family stood on the Olifants River about 1778-79 and at Paarl by 1786. Which Olifants is [TO VERIFY]; Tulbagh's catchment points west, at the Citrusdal valley.
