[30 Sep 2026, SRC-417 / DOC-0291] THE FIELD-CORNET IN WHOSE WARD WELBEDAGT LAY. The 1823 erfpacht survey places the farm 'in het adjunct District Clanwilliam en aldaar in de agter hantam, VeldCornetschap van Hendrik VolgraeffH'. Recorded on the precedent of PER-000484, the Tulbagh veldkornet of 1816: 6 admits people named in the farm papers, and a veldcornetcy is useful beyond this one sheet - it is a geographic unit that helps place OTHER farms named on the rolls of the same period. Nothing else is known of him and the spelling is the diagram's; Frans's image of the same passage reads VOLGRAFF, one f fewer, which is ordinary drift (5a rule 6). [TO VERIFY]
