[9 Aug 2026, SRC-348] A DIRECT ANCESTOR, admitted under scope rule R3, which takes direct ancestry back unbounded. Christened at PAARL in the Drakenstein on 9 January 1735, so born before that date, and died at TULBAGH on 30 April 1778. He is the generation above Carel Aaron (PER-001639, b. 1771), who was seven when he died. THE NAMING PATTERN AGREES: Carel Aaron's first son was called Schalk Willem (PER-001635, b. 1794), which is what the vernoemingspatroon does with a father's father, 5b. That is corroboration and it is not proof, and the link itself is [TREE] rather than documentary. He extends the Boland end of this line from Piketberg back to Paarl and Tulbagh.

S035's line opens on a Schalk Willem van der MerweL christened at Paarl on 9 January 1735 and dead at Tulbagh on 30 April 1778, with no father on record. The Swellendam opgaafrol of 1770 has SCHALK WILLEM VAN DER MERWE GERRITSZ on folio 1, entered alone beside his mother Jacoba van Eerden, widow of Gerrit van der Merwe d'oude. Are they one man?
What would settle it The parents' names in the 1735 baptism entry. Anything else is circumstantial.
