*** [20 Aug 2026, SRC-082] PROBABLY THE SAME WOMAN AS PER-000277, AND DELIBERATELY NOT MERGED. *** PER-000277 'Petronella SchoonmanM' comes from the witness line of the 1817 Graaff-Reinet baptism; PER-001270 'Petronella Catharina SchoemanH' is the wife of Gerrit Adriaan OosthuijzenH (PER-000145, UNI-000091). Same given name, and Schoonman is Schoeman written another way. The baptism's four witnesses stand in two couples, one pair from each side, so the man's partner on that line should be his wife.
WHY IT IS NOT MERGED YET: THERE IS A THIRD READING OF HER NAME. The 1816 George opgaafrol (SRC-459) gives Gerrit Adriaan's wife as 'ANNA Cath: Schoeman', and that reading was itself recorded there as a correction of an earlier match. Petronella, Petronella Catharina and Anna Catharina are three names for one position, from three documents, in two years. One of them is misread and the model should not pick a winner by merging.
