[15 Aug 2026] MERGED PER-000285 into this row. The 1909 baptism witness 'Isabella Johanna Malherbe' is this woman under her married name. She is Isabella Johanna Jacoba ZulchH, 19 July 1837 to 18 May 1925, wife of Hendrik Lodewyk MalherbeL [PER-000755] and mother of Johanna Fredricka - so at a Malherbe baptism she signs as a Malherbe. She was seventy-two that day and lived another sixteen years, so unlike her husband she was there to sign. PER-000285's own note already read 'almost certainly Johanna Fredrika Malherbe's mother'; this makes the identification a row rather than a sentence. The register's spelling stays in witness_name. Moved across: given=Isabella Johanna; doopnaam=Isabella Johanna; flourished_edtf=1909; line=Malherbe; living=0. SHE STOOD AS A WITNESS AT HER GRANDSON'S BAPTISM at Prince Albert on 12 September 1909, signing as Isabella Johanna Malherbe - her married name - which is why a separate row existed for her until it was merged into this one.
[16 Aug 2026] HER DEATH DATE DID A PIECE OF WORK. Asked whether the old woman on the 1925 negative might be her, with her daughter standing behind - she died on 18 MAY 1925 and the film is inscribed 4 December 1925, so no. LEAD-0209.

Who is the B. STORM buried on Varsche Fontein in 1848 (GRV-0030), and does the grave connect to either of the two Storm lines this family already touches?
What would settle it THE LIQUIDATION AND DISTRIBUTION ACCOUNT OF MAGDALENA STORM BORN BOTES, died Prince Albert 10 April 1884. Her death notice says she left IMMOVEABLE PROPERTY to be 'all sold immediately and the account filed'. That account names the land. It is now the single most direct route to whether the Storms held ground on or near Varsche Fontein. Failing that, the estate papers of her husband, died Prince Albert 19 August 1855.

A photograph of Izak Malherbe [97LH-84V] and Katriena Pepler [2CBY-7BD], made about the 1860s, is the oldest picture in this project. Both are now rows here. WHERE DO THEY SIT? The obvious hypothesis is that Izak stands above Hendrik Lodewyk MalherbeL [PER-000755, 1828-1901], Frans's 2x-great-grandfather - but nothing here establishes it.
