A life in the record

  1. before 1833 land Held it, Wilgemond No. 179
  2. August 1833 event Wilgamount and Klein Valie surveyed by C. Lennox Stretch
Two more of Stretch's August 1833 loan-farm surveys, both in C. Hatting's Zwarte Berg field cornetcy: Wilgamount for Martinus van Veuren and Klein Valie for Christian Hatting Junior. Both take in a piece of the Government ground called The Ape.

Research notes

[31 Jul 2026 inbox] The loan farm Wilgamount (PAR-000087) was surveyed FOR him in August 1833 (DOC-0117), but the 1841 grant went to J.M.J. van VuurenM - the same survey-applicant-is-not-grantee distinction already recorded on Klipfontein and Vrolykheid. Van Veuren and van Vuuren are the same surname in period spelling, so the two men are probably kin and possibly the same person; neither is asserted.

These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
