[3 Aug 2026, SRC-200] STOOD AS A BAPTISM WITNESS at Beaufort West in 1839 (BWB-230-06), in the veldkornetskap Veldcornetschap Hatting. Identified on name + date + tree id, never on the name alone: 22 of 52 unique-name matches from this register were rejected because the person's own dates forbade it. [TO VERIFY]
*** [SRC-597, 27 Aug 2026] RELATED TO THE SPREEUFONTEIN BOTMAS, ALMOST CERTAINLY, AND NOT A SISTER OF LODEWYK. *** The name ALETTA FRANCINA descends from ALETTA FRANSINA MOUTON (1734-1797), Lodewyk's grandmother, so every branch names a daughter for her and the name settles nothing. The FamilySearch cards carry two others and neither is this woman: a sister of Lodewyk's, 1787-1843 (LH6F-TKD), and an aunt of 1779 (PXDK-PWS). Ours is 10 Sept 1794 to 5 Jan 1871. The likeliest reading is a FIRST COUSIN, a granddaughter of Stephanus BotmaM and Aletta Fransina Mouton through one of the six brothers. Her own parents remain the missing link; this project holds only her mother, Johanna Barendina VisserM. LEAD-0319.
*** [SRC-598, same day] HER FATHER IS NAMED. *** The estate index lists her mother as the widow of ABRAHAM CHRISTOFFEL, so her father is Abraham Christoffel BothmaM (PER-001940). If he is the 1759 son of Stephanus BotmaM and Aletta Fransina Mouton, and he is the only candidate of the right age, then she is a FIRST COUSIN of Lodewyk BothmaM of Spreeufontein and the guess made this morning was right.
