Research notes
BORN IN THE LAND VAN WAVEREN (Tulbagh), 17 Sep 1766 - the generation between the Kweekvallei de Beers and the field cornet. The de Beer presence in Tulbagh in the same decades as the Oosthuizens is the evidence for the friends-before-the-move question.
[22 Sep 2026, SRC-656] NOT THE GENERATION BETWEEN, on De Villiers's reading. The line from the Kweekvallei loan farm to the 1833 field cornet runs Zacharias (PER-000273) - his son SAMUEL, baptised 1762 (PER-002079), field cornet 'called the Kweek Valley' about 1813 (SRC-662) - Samuel's son Matthijs Andries, baptised 28 June 1799 (PER-000274). This Matthys Andreas, born 1766 to Zacharias and Dina Margaretha van Dijk, is Samuel's younger full brother: the uncle of the 1799 Matthys Andries, not his father.
