Daniel Jacobus Oosthuijzen baptised at Beaufort West, the direct-ancestor couple, at Kriedouw in 1821
19 August 1821 · family · Prince Albert
Register entry 382. Born 26 July 1821 AAN KRIEDOUW, baptised 19 August 1821 in huijs. Father CORNELIS ANDRIES OOSTHUIJZEN, mother JOHANNA MAGDALENA PETRONELLA STRIJDOM. Witnesses: Gerrit Adriaan Oosthuijzen, Petronella Catharina Schoeman, Petrus Jacobus Venter, Cornelia Petronella Oosthuijzen. IDENTIFIED AS A COUPLE, NOT AS TWO NAMES: the register names both parents together and the model holds exactly that pair - PER-000015 and PER-000138, married at Graaff-Reinet on 11 April 1813 (UNI-000017), both born 1792, both dead in 1860, both of whom ended their lives at Middelwater. They are DIRECT ANCESTORS. AND THE PLACE MATTERS: the family is thought to have established at Middelwater about 1821 (EVT-000002). This is a primary record putting them AAN KRIEDOUW in July 1821. See the lead.
