29 Jul 2026 [SRC-082] Stood as baptism witness for his nephew Jan Adriaan at Graaff-Reinet, 16 June 1817, aged about 23. THE FIRST DIRECT EVIDENCE that the root ancestor's siblings were in the same district at the same time - which makes the move to the Koup two years later look like a family movement, not a lone trek.

*** [20 Aug 2026, SRC-519] HIS BAPTISM IS FOUND, AT PAARL. *** Drakenstein register G3/3/4, page 258: born 2 JANUARY 1794, baptised 26 October 1799 aged five, godparents GERT OOSTHUIJSEN with Susanna Lagransie and ADRIAEN OOSTHUIJSEN with Catharina Horn - the two men he is named for, and the father's kin rather than the mother's. The register writes him GERT ADRIAAN; this row and FamilySearch have Gerrit Adriaan. Both kept. Birth now exact where the row carried a bare 1794 and the 1809 inventory's 'oud 14 jaren' implied 1795.

What happened to the other seventeen - who stayed in the western Cape, who went to Hanover and the northern frontier, who joined the emigration of 1838?
