That is PER-000145, born 2 JANUARY 1794 where the row carried a bare 1794. | *** A FIVE-YEAR-OLD AT THE FONT. *** Born January 1794, baptised October 1799 - five years and nine months, the longest delay of the six baptisms found today and half again the twenty-one months of SRC-517. This page is a catch-up page: the children baptised around it were born in 1793, 1794 and 1799. | *** AND IT CONTRADICTS THE GRAAFF-REINET ENTRY UNLESS ONE THING IS TRUE. *** SRC-515 has BOTH PARENTS PERSONALLY STANDING AS WITNESSES at a Besuijdenhout baptism at Graaff-Reinet in SEPTEMBER 1799 - a presence statement, not a record statement. Paarl is some 700 km away and this baptism is a month later. The resolution is on the page itself: THE GODPARENTS HERE ARE THE FATHER'S KIN, Gert Oosthuijsen and Adriaen Oosthuijsen, and the child is named GERT ADRIAAN after the two of them. A five-year-old was carried to the Paarl font by his uncles. | *** SO A BAPTISM ENTRY NAMES THE PARENTS AS A MATTER OF RECORD, NOT AS A STATEMENT THAT THEY WERE IN THE BUILDING. *** The people who were certainly there are the GODPARENTS. That is a correction to how this project read the five earlier registers within the same afternoon: Roodezand 1796 and Graaff-Reinet 1799 have the MOTHER'S kin standing (van Tonder, van Wijk), Paarl 1799 has the FATHER'S. What the six pages map is where the KIN NETWORK reached, not where the household slept. | WHICH MEANS THE WESTERN CLUSTER IS WEAKER EVIDENCE THAN IT LOOKED AN HOUR AGO. Roodezand, Paarl and Swartland are three western congregations in 1796-1802, and they were about to be read as a household living in the north-west. On this page's evidence they may equally be Oosthuizen and van Tonder relatives presenting children. THE ONLY RESIDENCE STATEMENT IN ANY OF THE SIX REMAINS SRC-514's 'woonende aan Oliphants Rivier', written at Swellendam in 1808. LEAD-0260. | THE GODFATHERS ARE PROBABLY IN THIS MODEL ALREADY, and are themselves duplicated: ADRIAAN OOSTHUIZEN b. 25 Dec 1774 stands as both PER-000245 and PER-000666, and GERRIT JOHANNES OOSTHUIZEN b. 10 Feb 1760 as PER-000239, PER-000515 and PER-000660. Not linked here until that is sorted - linking would assert a merge nobody has made. LEAD-0259. | The month is 'dito', carried from an entry above, and the year band is read off the opening rather than the line. [TO VERIFY] | [20 Aug 2026] SAME REGISTER AS SRC-076, CONFIRMED FROM THE FILM'S ITEM TABLE: PAARL G3/3/4, baptism 1786-1799, item 9 on roll 79 of project S-AF 00532. This row sits at page 188 in October 1799 and SRC-076 at page 34 - the family's 1786 and 1799 Boland baptisms are thirteen years apart in one book, at their ancestral congregation. PAARL IS WHERE JACOBUS D'OUDE WAS BAPTISED IN 1722 (as Drakenstein, SRC-094).
