Plek waar oorlede: MERWEVILLE, distrik Beaufort-Wes. Gewone woonplek: Merweville, dist. Beaufort-Wes. VOORGENOME BEGRAAFPLEK: SKOORSTEEN, dist. PRINS ALBERT. Oorsake van dood: MAAGKANKER (cancer of stomach), 3 maande. Geneeskundige praktisyn: Dr. [?Bensley]. Beriggewer: H. W. BOTMA, volwasse verwant, teenwoordig by oorlye, woonplek Merweville dist. Beaufort-Wes.' The archive's own slip on the page warns the volume is damaged: tight binding, smeared and faded ink. | THE AGE FIXES THE BIRTH: 76 years 1 month 11 days before 4 April 1936 is 22 or 23 FEBRUARY 1860, which is why this man and the twenty-four-year-old of the 1884 register (SRC-588) and the seventy-year-old of 1930 (SRC-590) are one person and not three. | HE DIED OF STOMACH CANCER after three months, at Merweville - so the last move was off the Prince Albert ground altogether, though the family meant to carry him back to SKOORSTEEN to bury him. | H. W. BOT[H]MA, the adult relative present at the death, is the same H. W. Bothma who witnessed the 1930 wedding - and he signs BOTMA here and BOTHMA there. | 'Getroud' rather than 'wewenaar': Magdalena Maria van Tonder (PER-001930) outlived him.
