ENTRY 19, marked by Frans, transcribed as read: '18 Augustus 1839 / Jan Adrian Venter, jongman / Cornelia Petronella Magdalena Venter, jongedochter / Boer / woonplaats MIDDELVELD, Ditto [district Colesberg] / toestemming: Jan [?J.] M. Venter, Fader; PETRUS JACOBUS VENTER'. Married in the Kerk van Colesberg by Thomas Reid V.D.M. The bride signs 'haar + merk'; witnesses [?P. McKeever], [?G.E. Ipol]. THE BRIDE IS PER-000875 (972R-847), b 9 July 1822, seventeen - which is why both fathers stand in the consent column, and PETRUS JACOBUS VENTER (PER-000589, L4Q7-841) is her father consenting: ALIVE 18 AUGUST 1839. The groom's father '[?J.] M. Venter' is not identified against the model's three Jan Adriaan Venter namesakes - 9, never on a name alone. WOONPLAATS MIDDELVELD is the family's stated ground in the Colesberg district, repeated as 'Middenveld' by entry 958 of 1848 (SRC-578). Entry 20 same day: Petrus Albertus Venter x Cath.a Cornelia Coetsee, achter Zuur Berg, consent Johannes Jacobus Coetzee - recorded, not identified.
