Supplied by , as the FamilySearch source card AND the register image - so the reading and the citation are both here, which 5a-ii says are two separate claims. | THE ENTRY, as read from the image: "'t kind JOHANNA MAGTELT PETERNELLA / ouders / DANIEL JACOBUS STRYDOM / ANNA MAGDALENA CARELSE / getuygen / Johannes Nel / PETERNELLA CARELSE / Jan Hendrik Commering / Maria Elisabet [?Schoepers]". The last witness's surname is not confidently read and is marked. | *** WHAT IT SETTLES: HER NAME. *** PER-000138's doopnaam has stood as JOHANNA MACHTELD PETRONELLA and the register at her own baptism agrees. LEAD-0282 asked whether the woman written ANNA MAGDALENA Petronella Strydom as a witness at Stellenbosch in 1812 (SRC-545) and aan onder Traca in 1818 (SRC-454) was this woman or another; she is this woman, and the cause of the slip is now visible - HER OWN ELDER SISTER IS ANNA MAGDALENA STRYDOM (PER-000209), and at the 1818 baptism that sister is THE MOTHER OF THE CHILD, named two lines above the witnesses. A clerk carrying a name down one entry is the ordinary explanation and it is now the documented one. | *** WHAT IT PUTS IN QUESTION: HER MOTHER'S SURNAME. *** This register says the mother is ANNA MAGDALENA CARELSE, and FamilySearch's index of the same entry says Carelse too. THIS MODEL SAYS ANNA MAGDALENA CALITZ (PER-000338, 1771-1836, FS LZP9-TX6), on a [TREE] link at medium confidence. Calitz and Carelse are not variants of one another. The register carries CARELSE TWICE on this one entry - as the mother and as the witness PETERNELLA CARELSE - which is what a mother's own kin standing at a grandchild's font looks like, and it is hard to read as a slip. NOT OVERWRITTEN: this is not a spelling correction but a question of WHICH WOMAN, and PER-000338 carries her own FS id and dates. LEAD-0283. | *** AND A DATE TENSION, FLAGGED NOT FIXED. *** The model gives her birth as 1792-01-05 from the tree. This register baptises her on 13 JANUARY 1793. Infants on these same pages are baptised days after birth, so a birth of 5 January 1793 would fit the register exactly and the tree's year would be one out - but THE RECORD GIVES NO BIRTH DATE, only the baptism, so nothing is asserted. LEAD-0283. | [23 Aug 2026, LATER THE SAME DAY] THE PROVENANCE IS NO LONGER PARTLY INFERRED. BAPTISM, YEAR 1792-1805. 5a-ii - a reading and a citation are two claims, and this is the second one arriving after the first.
