THE FOURTH REGISTER PAGE OF THE DAY AND THE ONE THAT COMPLICATES THE PICTURE, which is why it is recorded in full rather than folded in. | THE ENTRY, page 193, under the year band 1802: 'SUSANNA JOHANNA | geboren d[en] 19 Maart 1801 | gedoopt d[en] 6 X[be]r 1802 | de Ouders zijn: OCKERT OOSTHUIJZEN, SUSANNA CATHARINA VAN TONDER | get: JACOBUS JOHANNES OOSTHUIJZEN, DINA MAGDALENA OOSTHUIJZEN, FREDRICK SMITH, JOHANNA [?KATITS]'. | BORN 19 MARCH 1801, BAPTISED 6 DECEMBER 1802 - twenty-one months apart, which is a long delay and is itself evidence that this household had to travel to reach a church. | *** IT PROBABLY DISSOLVES A DUPLICATE. *** This model carries TWO Susanna Johannas among Ockert's children: PER-000148 (b.1801, FS LZ8N-SP5, from FamilySearch) and PER-000352 (b.1802, FS G6ZP-ZKZ, a thin row from the tree pull whose note reads 'dates as in the tree'). One birth year and one baptism year, one child. NOT MERGED HERE: the two carry DIFFERENT FamilySearch ids, so the duplication is upstream as well as here, and sends a merge to Frans. LEAD-0259. | THE GODPARENTS ARE THE OLDER SIBLINGS AGAIN. Jacobus Johannes (PER-000208) is eighteen. 'Dina Magdalena Oosthuijzen' is a sister and this model holds the same doubled pair for her - PER-000142 (b.1787) and PER-000346 (b.1789) - so she is deliberately left unlinked here. | *** AND NOW THE GEOGRAPHY, WHICH MUST NOT BE TIDIED. *** SWARTLAND IS MALMESBURY, north of Cape Town, and it is the opposite side of the colony from both Graaff-Reinet and Swellendam. The household's four known baptisms now run: Graaff-Reinet 1799 (SRC-515), SWARTLAND December 1802 (this), Swellendam about 1804 (SRC-516) and Swellendam 1808 (SRC-514). East, then far west, then south-east twice. | WHAT IT DOES AND DOES NOT DO TO THE OLIFANTS READING. It does NOT overturn SRC-514: that entry is the only one of the four carrying a 'woonende aan' clause, it was written by a Swellendam clerk who described this family's home as the Olifants, and A.A. Faure took the 1809 estate as Landdrost of SWELLENDAM, which is territorial and not a matter of where anybody chose to baptise. But it DOES revive the Boland Olifants as a live possibility rather than a closed one, because Swartland is the congregation on the road north toward Piketberg, Clanwilliam and the Citrusdal valley. A household on the Boland Olifants in 1802 that had moved to the southern Olifants by 1808 would leave exactly this trace - and so would a family that simply travelled a great deal. THIS PROJECT DOES NOT KNOW WHICH, and neither reading may be written as settled. LEAD-0220 and LEAD-0260. | *** [same day] THE DUPLICATE IS CONFIRMED BY A DOCUMENT ALREADY HELD. *** SRC-092, the 1809 inventory, lists ELEVEN heirs and exactly ONE Susanna Johanna, 'oud 8 jaren' - born about 1801, which is this child. There is no second Susanna Johanna in that household. PER-000352 is an artefact. LEAD-0259 is answered on the facts and only the merge itself is outstanding.
