SUPPLIED BY FRANS, as a FamilySearch record view. INDEXED FIELDS: Anna Magdalena Strydom, age 53, birth year estimated 1793, birthplace SOMERSET, Cape Colony; DIED 30 JULY 1846 AT COLESBERG; probate 30 July 1846 at Colesberg. Also on the record: Daniel Jacobus Strydom. | WHY IT MATTERS: she is the "late A. M. Strydom" of her husband's own 1867 death notice (SRC-451), and she died at COLESBERG SIX MONTHS BEFORE he remarried there on 8 February 1847 (SRC-452). So the Colesberg tie is not created by the second marriage - the family was already reaching Colesberg while the first wife lived, even though his residence is entered as HANTAM in February 1847. That is the ordinary trekboer pattern rather than a contradiction, but it is recorded as an observation and not resolved. | A TENSION WORTH KEEPING RATHER THAN SMOOTHING: an 1793 birth makes her fifteen at the Uitenhage marriage of 6 March 1808 and sixteen at the birth of Ockert Jacobus in 1809. The 1793 figure is FamilySearch's estimate derived from "53 years" on the form, which is itself approximate, so this is more likely a soft age than a real problem. [TO VERIFY]
