HOW THIS FILE IS TO BE USED, which is the most important thing on this row. It is a REFERENCE, not a source to ingest. AND IT IS NOT MORE ACCURATE FOR BEING MORE RECENT, which was tested rather than assumed. Of 420 people held in common by FamilySearch id, 31 disagree on a year. FOUR OF THOSE 31 ARE PEOPLE THIS PROJECT CORRECTED FROM ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS ON 11 AUGUST 2026, and the family-tree carries the OLDER WRONG VALUE ON ALL FOUR: Catharina Isabella Bruijn (register 1894, file 1895), Christina Elisabeth Nel (register 1867, file 1868), Anna Jacoba Louw (notice 1868, file 1860) and Anna Magdalena Wilhelmina Lubbe (notice about 1812, file 1815). That is the whole argument for ranking it below a register, and it is on the record rather than asserted. WHAT WAS TAKEN: SIX PEOPLE. The scope Frans set that afternoon is the FOUR PATERNAL LINES of his four grandparents - Oosthuizen, Joubert, van der Merwe and van Rensburg - traced father to father, nothing born before 1650, and the first Oosthuizen's own ancestry left alone. Those four lines hold 37 people in the file; 31 were already here; six looked missing and only FIVE were. The sixth, GW32-G7M in the Oosthuizen line, is already here as PER-000559, tombstoned as a duplicate of the stamvader PER-000296, whose birth this model deliberately records as the range 1665/1672 to hold both readings. The comparison had excluded tombstoned rows and so could not see it. WHAT WAS DELIBERATELY NOT TAKEN: 1,202 of Frans's direct ancestors born 1650 or later, and 7,299 people in all. Two thirds of that would have landed at eight to ten generations back, which is where a compiled tree is least tested, and it would have taken this model from 1,812 people to about 3,000 on the word of a file just shown to be wrong wherever it could be checked. THE FILE IS CENTRED ON A LIVING CHILD and carries his mother's ancestry, which is why it holds surnames this project has never seen - Spies, Gelderblom, Jonker, Bosch, Neethling. None of that is imported: it is the son's ancestry, not Frans's, and 4 governs the living people in it. When something is wanted from that side, LOOK IT UP HERE AND CITE IT.
