Johannes Francois Joubert (1782-1857)

1782 – 1857

Names

Given
Johannes Francois
Surname
Joubert

The formal baptismal name and the name a person was actually called are both kept, and neither is derived from the other. Spelling drift between records is evidence, not noise.

A life in the record

  1. 1782 born Born
  2. 1857 died Died

Others of the same name

Afrikaans naming repeats hard, and the Cape Dutch naming pattern reuses a name on purpose, a child who died young has the name given again to a later sibling. These are different people. Never match on a name alone.

What we don't know

A sourced gap beats an unsourced fill. These are the open questions on this person, stated rather than papered over.

Research notes

[11 Aug 2026, SRC-411] IMPORTED FROM THE SON'S family-tree UNDER A NARROW RULE. [FAMILY] The file is a reference to consult, not a tree to ingest, and the only people to take from it are HIS OWN DIRECT ANCESTORS - scoped that afternoon to the FOUR PATERNAL LINES of his four grandparents, father to father, and nothing before the 1650s.. Six people in those four lines were missing and this is one of them. NAME, YEARS AND THE FATHER-LINK ONLY. No place: the same file was checked against four people this project corrected from original documents the same day and had the older wrong value on ALL FOUR, so it is ranked as a compiled tree and not as evidence. JOUBERT line.

These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
