The citation as it was given

THE GENERATION ABOVE THE 1809 INVENTORY. Ockert Oosthuysen (PER-000118) is heir no. 3 here, so this document names his parents outright and closes the line one step further back. Three things it settles: (1) the mother is a BRITS, which is where the name Ockert comes from - the 1755 baptism witness Ocker Brits is her kin; (2) the vernoemingspatroon runs perfectly across the first three sons - Johannes for the father's father, Ockert for the mother's father, Jacobus for the father himself; (3) the old couple owned NO FARM by 1802 - the estate is 140 sheep, Rd:s 300 cash and Rd:s 1382:5 lent out to their own children, and the inventory was taken at the place of the son Pieter Cornelis, with whom the widow was living. Eight orphaned grandchildren are placed among an uncle, two neighbours and a stepfather, six of them with ages nobody in the room could give. One enslaved man is listed - Anthony van de Kaap. | [6 Aug 2026] CHECKED AGAINST THE ORIGINAL. Frans sent photographs of the three manuscript openings of MOOC8/24.27 - the head of the inventory, the money account with the heirs, and the closing formula. Until today this project held only the TANAP TRANSCRIPTION, and a transcription is somebody else's reading. WHAT THE SHEETS CONFIRM, word for word: the heading 'ter plaatse van Piet Cornelis Oosthuijsen'; item 43 'een ploeg met zyn toebehooren'; item 44 'een oude slaave jonge, gen:d ANTHONY VAN DE KAAP'; item 45 'eenhondert en veertig schaapen, zo klein als groot'; the eight named grandchildren of the late Marthinus with their households; and the closing formula with Theodorus Muller and Johannes Hendrik Crous as witnesses and A. Stockenstrom's signature twice. WHAT THEY CORRECTED: the Somma of Rd:s 1382:5 is the WHOLE MOVABLE ESTATE, not the lending. The manuscript carries the Rd:s 300 cash and the first loan of 130 across the page together as 'Transporteere Rd:s 430', so the loans alone come to Rd:s 1082:5. This file had been reading the Somma as the loan total and overstating the lending by exactly the cash in the house. The figures close to the schilling either way. TER PLAATSE VAN PIET: CORN:S OOSTHUYZEN'. Taken 27 APRIL 1802 at the place of the burger PIETER CORNELIS OOSTHUYZEN JACOBSZOON - a SON - who gave the account and stood surety for it. Witnesses THEODORUS MULLER and the burger JOHANNES HENDRIK CROUS; 'My present' and signed A. OCKERT AT NUMBER 3 is the parentage evidence this project upgraded PER-000118's link on earlier today, now seen on the page. | *** AND THE PAGE SAYS WHERE EACH ORPHAN WAS LIVING, WHICH IS THE RARE THING. *** Hendrik Christoffel Marthinus, 10, and Jacobus Ockert with PIETER CORN: OOSTHUYZEN; Marthinus, Stephanus and Catharina with JOH:S MATTHEUS CALITZ; Andries with JACOBUS SCHMIDT DE KOK; Fredrik and Dina Carolina with 'de STIEFVADER J. J. SCHMIDT'. Eight children across four households, and a widow remarried. All eight are now PER-001871 to PER-001878. | *** TWO SONS ARE ABSENT FROM THE HEIR LIST AND THAT DATES THEIR DEATHS. *** PER-000238 Jacobus Petrus (b.1757) and PER-000243 Jacobus (b.1769) are neither named nor represented. A Cape estate represents a predeceased child through his own children, as it does for Marthinus - so a son absent altogether died BEFORE APRIL 1802 AND WITHOUT ISSUE. An inference from an heir list, marked as one. | THE MONEY, itemised as loans to the children: Joh:s Jac:s 130, Ockert 100, Gert Joh:s 100, Pt: Corn:s 350, Adriaan 60, Dina Johanna Magdalena 100, Jacoba Cornelia 142:5, and Rd 100 in the estate of the late Marthinus 'by de Weeskamer geadministreerd'. With Rd 300 in cash the SOMMA is Rd 1382:5. The father had lent out more than four times what he held in coin, all of it to his own children. | THE GOODS are a household and a workshop, not a farm: chests, chairs, an old table, tin spoons and steel forks, a walking stick with silver mounting, a gun, a hand-saw, two axes, a plane, a spade, smith's iron, a soap mould, five iron pots one of them broken, wine measures - an old legger, a half-aam, an anker keg - a plough with its appurtenances, and 140 sheep 'zo klein als groot'. NO FARM AND NO WAGON. | *** AND BETWEEN THE PLOUGH AND THE SHEEP, ONE MAN: 'EEN OUDE SLAAVE JONGE, GEN: ANTHONY VAN DE KAAP'. *** He is already PER-000307 in this model, recorded as a person rather than as a line of an inventory, which is right and was done on 29 July. He is the only human being priced in this estate.
