[11 Aug 2026, SRC-377] SHE STOOD AS A WITNESS at the baptism of her grandson Schalk Willem Burger at Clanwilliam on 7 April 1833, beside her husband.
[11 Aug 2026, SRC-410] SHE IS THE LOKENBURG WIDOW'S DAUGHTER, and that is how this family came to the farm. Her own death notice names her parents as JACOBUS ADRIAAN LOUW and MARIA CATHARINA ELIZABETH LOUW - the couple the 1820 diagram of Lokenburg calls "de Wede. Jacobus Adn. Louw" and whose inventory, MOOC8/75.66, was taken at Lokenburg in 1823 (SRC-368). Her husband died on that farm in 1866 and she died there on 3 MARCH 1868, a widow, aged about 75. HER DEATH YEAR IS CORRECTED FROM 1860 TO 1868. She was BORN IN THE BOKKEVELD, district of Calvinia, and baptised 24 September 1793 with the family at SWARTLAND. NINE CHILDREN are named with their spouses, which her husband's 1866 notice did not give: Jacobus Adriaan (dead, leaving four children); Carel Aaron (dead, leaving one adult daughter); Maria, married to Izaak Heremias Visagie; Schalk Willem Jacobus; Anna Jacoba Louisa, married to Gerrit Jacobus van Wyk; Jacobus Nel; Johanna, married to Johannes Abraham van Wyk; Francois Jacobus; and Elizabeth Susanna, married to Izaak Jacobus van der Merwe.
[12 Aug 2026] display_name read (1793-1860) while this row's own death_edtf is 1868-03-03, and S035 and S036 both give 3 March 1868. The label was corrected to the field; no date was changed.
These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
