Research notes
[FS GV5X-87W] THE CHILD ON THE VARSCHE FONTEIN STONE, GRV-0028. The stone is hand-cut and phonetic - 'MARIHA ELIESABET FREYSEN, GEBOR 6 OCTO 1901, OVERLEID [4?] JUNY 1902' - and FamilySearch gives MARIA ELIZABETH FREYSEN, 1901-1902, the seventh of ten children. Mariha is Maria and Eliesabet is Elizabeth, written as they were said. Eight months old. SHE IS GERHARDUS FRANCOIS BEUKES'S GRANDDAUGHTER: her mother Elizabeth Elsje Petronella BeukesM is his eldest child. So the infant is buried in her grandfather's cemetery, twelve years before he was. NOT KIN TO THIS FAMILY as far as the tree goes: neither Freysen nor Botes appears among Frans's 2,736 ancestors, and none of these people is in the private tree. On this site because they are on this ground.
These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
