Research notes

[30 Sep 2026, SRC-698] Named in MOOC8/6.51 (SRC-698) as "een plaats ofte hofsteede geleegen onder 't district van Drakensteijn aan de Paerel, gen:t Wittenberg volgens twee daarvan sijnde kaarten en erfbrieven, de datis 30 Januarij 1712, en 21:e September 1717". The household's principal seat: the 1740 inventory itemises the house room by room on this farm and only a short list on De Hoop. Bequeathed with De Hoop to the son Roelof by testament of 22 November 1739 for f3000. NO CADASTRAL MATCH ATTEMPTED YET - this project holds no geometry for the Paarl or Drakenstein registration divisions, and 5's namesake rule applies with force to a name like Wittenberg.
