Research notes

"Portion 3 (Marinco), of the farm Vrolykheid No. 177, Prince Albert." Field Cornetcy given as Traka, struck through and corrected in hand to Kredouw - the same correction appears on DOC-0069 and DOC-0072, so the district's field-cornetcy naming had changed by 1934, not a one-off clerical slip. Extent 1914.7100 morgen. "This diagram is annexed to Transfer Deed No. 11074 dated 18.12.1935 in favour of V.C. Marincowitz. The original diagram is No. [blank] annexed to Title Deed No. (B.W.Q.5.18) dated 15/4/1841 in favour of N. HitgeM." [CORRECTED 29 Jul 2026, verification pass] This face was earlier read as "Portion 5" and "1934.7100 morgen" - both wrong: the portion numeral matches the surveyor's own 3s in "1934"/"1935" (not his 5s), and the disputed extent digit is a plain stroke identical to the 1s in "7100". DOC-0028's verso, re-read the same day, agrees on all three points (Marinco 177/3, 1914.7100mg, 18.12.1935-11074) - the earlier "deed conflict" between the two documents was an artefact of the mis-transcribed verso. Antecedent title: the 1841 HITGE grant (B.W.Q.5.18), not the Oosthuisen survey - see PAR-000014 and LEAD-0009.

The research behind this page, kept separate from it: dated working notes, open questions, and what is not yet settled.
