The citation as it was given
A printed divisional map of the whole Prince Albert division as it stood in 1915, field cornetcies Dwyka, Gamka, Traka, Kredouw, Zwartberg and Prince Albert, with the neighbouring divisions Beaufort West, Laingsburg, Oudtshoorn and Willowmore round its edge. EACH FARM IS PRINTED WITH ITS TITLE: the name, the registered holder, the date of the title, the quitrent volume and number (B.W.Q. = Beaufort West quitrent, P.A.Q. = Prince Albert, W.Q./Wor. Q. = Worcester, Will. Q. = Willowmore) and the folio. Amended titles are marked as such. The latest date printed is 13 April 1915. TRANSCRIBED IN FULL on 16 Sep 2026 into data/divmap_rows.csv, one row per printed label. TWO SCANS WERE SUPPLIED and they are not the same file: this colour one, 6254 x 4246 px at 300 dpi, clearly legible and the one transcribed; and a larger greyscale scan, 19866 x 25792 px at 600 dpi, lighter and harder to read in the north, kept in _inbox/2026-09-16-prince-albert-divisional-map-1915/ and used only to cross-check the northern labels. It is too large for the site's image pipeline to publish. PROVENANCE IS UNVERIFIED: the map's own title block is read off the image; which archive holds it is not.
Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
