Transcribed as read: 'The figure, A-H, represents the Crown Land Farm called Bissies en Anteel Kolk containing 11075 Morgen 410 Square Roods of Land, situate in the Division of Fraserburg, Field-cornetcy No. 3, and bounded Ewd by Riet Poort, N by Water Kloof and Zand Puts, NW by Zand Puts and Kwaai Puts, S by Dassie Kloof and, SE by van Renens Plaats. Surveyed by me, (Sgd.) Saml. Melvill., Govt. Surveyor. June 1870.' Area in English Measure given as 23442.10 acres, which converts to 9,486 ha against 11,075 morgen at 0.856532 ha/morgen - the two figures on the sheet agree with each other. A sides-and-angles table gives beacons A to H. Examiner's note: 'The numerical data of this diagram are sufficiently consistent. (Sgd.) L. Marquard, Examiner.' Filing block: 'Copied from diagram relating to Title Deed No. Fr.Q.11-3 dated 27.6.1890', re-certified 19.8.1965 'for Surveyor-General', Sheet EK-7, initials BH/MF. *** THIS IS THE FARM ITSELF, IN THE SURVEYOR'S OWN HAND, AND IT CONFIRMS THE CADASTRE POINT MATCH INDEPENDENTLY. *** The name (Bissies), the division (Fraserburg) and the extent all agree with the national CSG cadastre's PRCL_KEY N066C026000000000091000000, found the same day from Frans's coordinate. The diagram's 9,486 ha and the modern cadastre's 9,515.6 ha agree to 0.3%, well inside the normal range for a farm whose boundary has not been resurveyed since 1870. *** A SECOND MELVILLE SURVEYS THIS FAMILY'S GROUND. *** This model already holds P.A.H. Melville, who surveyed Vrolykheid Portion 4 in 1934 (DOC-0072). 'Saml. Melvill.' here is sixty-four years earlier and almost certainly a different man - LEAD-0028 already tracks surveyor-name fragmentation in this project and this is another instance of a recurring Cape surveying-family name. [TO VERIFY, not asserted as kin] *** THE SURVEY DATE, THE TITLE DEED DATE AND THE COPY DATE ARE THREE SEPARATE THINGS, PER 11a, AND ALL THREE ARE HELD SEPARATELY ON THE DOCUMENT ROW. *** Surveyed June 1870; title deed Fr.Q.11-3 dated 27 June 1890; re-certified for the Surveyor-General on 19 August 1965. The 1965 date is a re-certification stamp, the same class of event as the 1952-1967 photostat re-stamps this project already holds on six 1833 diagrams - it is not content and does not gate the sheet.
