MARAIS. *** THIS IS THE FIRST DOCUMENT BEHIND ANY ROW OF THE 2 SEPTEMBER KLEU BATCH. *** Those eighty-seven people came in from FamilySearch descendancy views with years only, no places and nothing to cite, and their own note says so in terms: 'EVERY ROW IS FROM A COMPILED TREE. Nothing here is evidence.' This register entry converts three of them. The child is PER-002011 (FS PFQS-M3Z), who was held as a bare '1904' and now has a birth day and a baptism day. The father is PER-001998, Sarel Petrus Jacobus Kleu b.1850 (G82G-3MW), and the mother PER-001999, Christina Wilhelmina van der Westhuizen 1861-1931 (G82L-1D3); the tree gave them twelve children between 1879 and 1904 and this is the youngest, at the font with both parents named exactly as the tree has them. *** AND IT GIVES THE FAMILY A PLACE, WHICH THE BATCH HAD NONE OF: OUDTSHOORN. *** 5, third rule, applies and bounds what that is worth: a baptism names a CHURCH, not a home. Oudtshoorn is where this household stood at the font in October 1904 and is evidence of the district rather than of an address. Read beside SRC-617, the Uniondale register of 1910, it puts two separate Kleu households in the Oudtshoorn-Uniondale country in one decade. THE WITNESSES ARE NOT IDENTIFIED. 'Cornelis J. Klue' is the child's namesake and this model holds several men of that name; the vernoemingspatroon makes an uncle or a grandfather likely and no record here says which. Helena M. Marais is held nowhere. [TO VERIFY] The congregation and leaf are read off the printed heading of the opening; no film, DGS or ark number came with the image, so the citation is the page and not yet an archive reference. 5a-ii: the reading is sound, the provenance is not yet checked.
