The FamilySearch card for that couple lists CHRISTINA BOTMA 1794-1821 (LH6F-YTS) among their thirteen, so the register and the tree agree to the year and the register is now the authority. | THREE BOTMA HOUSEHOLDS SIT ON ONE OPENING and they witness for each other: Lodewijk x Johanna Cok, Jan Daniel x Margrita Maria Erasmus, and Stephanus x Huibrecht Cloete, with Jan Daniel standing witness at Lodewijk's font. That is the family working as a block in one congregation, which is what this project's own witness rules are built to read. | *** AND IT EXTENDS THE WESTWARD TRAIL THAT LEAD-0320 TURNS ON. *** TULBAGH in 1794, WORCESTER in 1821 and 1834 (SRC-599), the ROGGEVELD by December 1834. Four fixes across forty years, all of them on the western side of the colony, and the first Botma holding on the Prince Albert Spreeufontein is Lodewyk about 1871. The family did not come to this district until the generation after the grants.
