Married; surviving spouse JOHANNA GEERTRUIDA BRINK. 7. Died 15th April 1908. 8. AT HIS RESIDENCE "SPREEUWFONTEIN", PRINCE ALBERT DIVISION. 9. Children, all majors: (1) LODEWYK BOTMA, deceased, m.t. Martha Maria Catharina Botma, leaving Aletta Francina (major), Johanna Geertruida, Frans Stephanus [?m.t. Stephs Johs Stefa-], Lodewyk, Abraham Christoffel, Martha Maria Catharina and Elsje Johanna, the last five MINORS; (2) FRANS STEPHANUS BOTMA; (3) ELSJE JACOBA BOTMA m.t. W. N. A. [?Botes], [Niehaus written above].' | THIS IS PER-000323 ON PAPER, and the date, the farm and the parents all agree with what the model already held from FS - the notice is the original the tree was reporting. | IT ADDS THREE THINGS. His son LODEWYK (PER-001606) predeceased him and had MARRIED A BOTMA, Martha Maria Catharina - cousins marrying, and their seven children are named here, four still minors in 1908. His daughter ELSJE JACOBA married a NIEHAUS, so with Johanna Geertruida's Niehaus marriage and the 1909 sale of Lot C to Jacob A. Niehaus this is the THIRD strand of one bond between the two families on Spreeufontein. And the notice writes his father as LODEWYK BOTMA where this project holds him as LODEWYK BOTHMA (PER-000037) - the same man, the same generation, two spellings. | Only five children are listed against the nine the FS card gives, which is what a death notice does: it names the heirs living or leaving issue, not the whole family.
Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
