WILL.' | *** THE FILING DATE CARRIES A FINDING THE DESCRIPTION DOES NOT STATE. *** Drawn 1817, filed 1847. This model holds Jacobus Johannes Oosthuizen (b.1784), PER-000208, married to Anna Magdalena Strijdom at Uitenhage on 1808-03-06 (UNI-000031) and married again to Anna Helena Roscher on 1847-02-08 (UNI-000032). A joint will is lodged when the first spouse dies and the estate is wound up, and the widower remarries. So this entry dates Anna Magdalena Strijdom's death to c.1846-47. [TO VERIFY] - it is an inference from two dates and a filing convention, not a reading of the will. | Why the document matters beyond that: PER-000208 held land at De Modder Fonteyn in 1809/1810 (SRC-092) and stood witness at the 1808 Swellendam baptism whose register writes 'woonende aan Oliphants Rivier' (SRC-514). A loan place has no deed and no diagram, so a will of 1817 by the man who was standing on it is among the few papers that could name the ground. LEAD-0262.
