Causes: "(a) Acute diarrhoea (b) cardiac asthenia (c) congestion of lungs". 16. Durations: 5 days, some years, 3 days. 17. Medical practitioner: DR A. C. HEETHLING. 18. Informant: H. "BIRTHPLACE: HOLLAND, EUROPE" IS THE FIND. He is the only person in this project's direct ancestry born outside southern Africa. FamilySearch narrows it to DE RIJP, NOORD-HOLLAND, on 23 February 1855; the death form gives only the country, which is what a registrar in Calvinia would write down. The De Rijp birth is the tree's and is not corroborated here. [TO VERIFY] HE DIED ON AN OLD AGE PENSION AND WITH NO OCCUPATION, at 75, in the town rather than on the farm his widow was living on thirteen years later. The grave is in the Calvinia cemetery and this project holds the photograph of the stone (GRV-1456, SRC-389), which reads BRUYN. It confirms the death date this model already held, 6 November 1929, to the day.
