Supplied by [FAMILY] This i got from janet mellville - historian of van der merwe family, via email correspondance 2011. *** THE FILE IS HELD IN THE PRIVATE FOLDER, NOT IN THIS REPO, AND DELIBERATELY SO. *** It is a descendant report running to the present and it names LIVING PEOPLE, including a child born in 2007. 1 puts material like that on the private shelf; the public repo takes curated facts about the deceased, one at a time, with a source. Path: ../the private research folder/source_files/correspondence/UITSET01.HTM. WHAT IT COVERS: the descendants of SCHALK WILLEM BURGER VAN DER MERWE (b. Ou Muur, Calvinia 23 Feb 1833, d. Calvinia 17 Jan 1904), through three marriages and eighteen children, to the present - roughly 150 people. The ground is CALVINIA, WILLISTON and BRANDVLEI: the Hantam and the Boesmanland, not the Koup. Under 9a most of it is out of scope and must not be bulk-imported. WHY IT MATTERS HERE ANYWAY: one branch comes south. Frans Jacobus Wilhelmus van der Merwe (PER-000030) appears in it at a1b3c10d2e8f1g1h1i7j2k2, born Williston 1924 and dying at PRINCE ALBERT in 1968, recorded as living at VREDENDAL - which this project holds as PAR-000006. That is the join. PARKED UNTIL IT IS NEEDED, on Frans's own steer: "it will be more relevant when i dig into spreeuwfontein and grandfather, frans van der merwe". What is waiting in it for that work: the full descent code back to the Van der Merwe stamvader, the Bruyn marriage of 1917 at Calvinia, and a generation this model does not yet hold. A CAVEAT ON THE SOURCE ITSELF: this is a compiled genealogy, not a register. 10 ranks sources original > register > tree > memory, and this sits at the 'tree' level - very well researched, and still a compilation.
