The citation as it was given
9 MORGEN AND 167 SQUARE ROODS, "being a portion of the farm KLAARSTROOM, situate in the fieldcornetcy of Zwaart Berg". Bounded North, West and South by the remaining portion of the farm, and EAST BY THE GROOT RIVER. *** IT IS THE ARABLE. *** The 1833 diagram of the whole farm (SRC-223) draws a solid black square for the werf and writes beside it "9 MORGEN OF ARABLE". Twenty-five years later that same nine morgen is surveyed off as Portion 1 and transferred on its own deed. Of 6 498 morgen, the nine that could be ploughed were the nine that were cut out and sold first - and this is the farm the town of Klaarstroom stands on (STO-0014). A later hand: "Included in Consol vide SG 1230/2014 Farm 178/39", so it was absorbed into a 2014 consolidation. | The BACK of this sheet is read at SRC-232.
Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
