THE GRANTEES ARE NAMED HERE, and they close a gap this project has carried since the Rhemhoogte diagram arrived: "being one-half of the farm RHEMHOOGTE granted to Mess[rs] J AND J A OOSTHUYSEN on the 1st July 1879". Our OWN-000060 records deed P.A.Q.2-20 of 1.7.1879 to "(J.)A.A. Oosthuysen & another" - the "& another" is the second Oosthuysen. TWO MEN OF THE SAME SURNAME, not one man and a stranger. [TO VERIFY which J and which J.A.] Two areas are given and they do not agree: the Reference box computes 5097 morgen 1609 sq roods as the rectified area, the text below says 5305 morgen 535 square roods. Both recorded. Bounded by Klein Sluitel Fontein, Groot Sluitel Fontein, Rhemhoogte, MIDDELWATER, RONDABLE and the Remaining Extent, with the TRAKA RIVER on the east.
Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
