A child of Jacobus Abraham BotesL [LB6D-WKC] and Elsje Dorothea GouwsH [LC3S-HTS], fifteen children in all. Brought in because their daughter Magdalena Frederica married into the Storms of this district. Per 9a the Botes are a tool for stitching stones on this ground, not a family to follow outward. [FS] THE OLDEST BOTES THIS PROJECT HOLDS. Almost certainly the Jacob Abraham born to Antonie Botes of Enkhuizen and Engela Erasmus, who married on 26 March 1766 - a birth in 1768 fits that marriage exactly, and Jacob Abraham is one of the nine children published for it. He is the father of Magdalena Frederica BotesH [PER-001522], who married Hendrik Willem StormM and whose death notice says she was born in the GOUPH. That places this household in the Koup by the 1790s.

[7 Aug 2026] A GENERATION IS MISSING HERE AND IT IS NOT GUESSED. He is NOT a child of the stamvader Wietse Botes and Antje PijtersM, however tempting the line looks: ANTJE PIJTERS DIED IN 1767 AND HE WAS BORN IN 1768, so she cannot be his mother. HIS FATHER IS ANTONIE BOTES, born Enkhuizen 11 September 1740, who married ENGELA ERASMUS on 26 March 1766 - the stamvader's son, so this man is the stamvader's GRANDSON. Antonie and Engela are not yet in this model with FamilySearch ids and the row will be made when they are, not before. [TO VERIFY]

[14 Aug 2026] MERGED PER-001533 into this row. Both are the man named as father of Magdalena Storm born Botes on her 1884 death notice (SRC-306), with the same wife, Elsje Dorothea GouwsH. PER-001533 was created from that notice with no dates; PER-001578 came from FamilySearch [LB6D-WKC] with 1768-1852, the same wife and the same fifteen children including Magdalena Frederica. Same name, same spouse, same daughter, and the notice's own detail is what the FS household describes. Surfaced by matching the ASBotes family-tree: the death-notice row was the only Jacob Abraham Botes here without an FS id, which is what made me look at it. Moved across: line=Botes. What the model does hold is 255 eGGSA captions naming Botes, 78 curated Botes gravestones, 50 stones in the Prince Albert NG Kerk cemetery alone, and a striking run of marriages into this district: Storm twice in two generations, two Botes brothers marrying two Niehaus sisters four months apart in 1880, plus Kruger, Combrink, Theron, Swanepoel and Oosthuizen. So: were the Botes ever ON this ground as occupiers, or are they a Beaufort West and Prince Albert town family that this district married?
